About Design Sprint

How do you solve big problems and test new ideas in just five days?

Entrepreneurs and leaders face big question every day: What’s the most important place to focus your effort, and how do you start? What will your idea look like in real life? How many meetings and discussions does it take before you can be sure you have the right solution?

Now there’s a sure way to answer these important questions: the Sprint.

Designer Jake Knapp created the five-day process at Google, where Sprints were used on everything from Google Search to Google X. At Google Ventures more than 100 sprints have been run with companies in mobile, e-commerce, health care, finance, and more. He has coached companies like Slack, Nest, Lego, 23andMe, Uber, and Flatiron Health.

This five-day process is used for answering critical business questions, creating news products, or improving existing ones through designing, prototyping, and testing ideas with customers.

Day 1: Define the problem and focus on understanding it.

Day 2: Produce innumerable solutions.

Day 3: Curate and choose the best solution.

Day 4: Prototype

Day 5: Test the prototype with real users and learn.

Jake has spoken at companies from Airbnb to LEGO, at events from Google I/O to the Lean Startup Conference, and at universities like Stanford, Columbia, and Harvard. He's also been interviewed by folks like NPR, Fast Company, and the Wall Street Journal.
